Maruchan Ramen Noodle

2023 • Belmont Park, San Diego

When Amp Agency reached out about painting a custom mural for Maruchan, it was an easy yes. Sunshine, ocean views, and instant noodles? That’s basically a creative holy trinity—and exactly the kind of vibrant, playful project we love bringing to life as San Diego mural artists.

If you think you don’t know Maruchan… you definitely do. Their iconic instant ramen packaging has stayed consistent for decades, making it one of the most recognizable food brands in the U.S. The goal for this project was to create a bright, engaging, brand-forward mural that felt at home in Belmont Park—a historic beachfront amusement park in San Diego known for its high foot traffic, coastal energy, and family-friendly atmosphere.

Concept & Design

This mural was designed to merge brand identity with the Southern California coastal environment. We transformed the Maruchan logo into a glowing sunset over the Pacific, using the natural ocean backdrop to enhance the illusion. The noodles rise from the water like waves, painted in the brand’s signature color palette pulled directly from their packaging.

To expand the installation beyond the wall, my designs were also adapted into custom floor decals, creating an immersive, interactive “ramen zone” within Belmont Park. This kind of multi-surface mural design is something we love incorporating into experiential marketing projects and branded environments.

Community Engagement & Live Painting

One of the most unique aspects of this San Diego mural project was the interactive painting experience. Amp Agency encouraged kids visiting Belmont Park to participate in the mural process—something we initially thought might be chaotic (paint + kids = risk 😅), but it turned into one of the most rewarding parts of the project.

Inviting the public into the process created a community-driven mural experience, making the artwork more than just a visual installation—it became a memory for the families who stopped by. And honestly, we wouldn’t be surprised if a few of those kids went home asking for Maruchan ramen that night.
