Maruchan Ramen Noodle
Client: AMP Agency (Boston, MA)
Location: Belmont Park, San Diego
When Amp Agency in Boston reached out to me about painting a mural for their client, Maruchan, it was an easy yes from me. The sun, the waves, instant noodles? That is my Holy Trinity.
If you think you don’t know Maruchan… trust me, you do. Their instant ramen packets have looked the same, and consistently tasted great, for basically as long as I can remember. These clients wanted a mural that felt fun, had bright colors, and incorporated the scenery in which it would live: Belmont Park, an amusement park along the beach in the Mission Park area of San Diego.
I got to work designing this small(er) mural, turning the Maruchan logo into the sun setting over an ocean (perfect for boiling perfectly cooked ramen ;)). I pulled the classic brand colors off of the Maruchan instant ramen package to paint the noodles that are being pulled out of the water. My designs were then turned into floor decals to take over the space and create a whole noodle-y area to hang out int - and I just love how this one came out!
The painting experience for this mural was cool because Amp Agency wanted any children who were walking by to be able to participate in the installation process. I won’t lie, when I heard this I was initially concerned because kids + gallons of paint don’t exactly sound like a stress-free situation. But it actually turned out great! It was a fun day, the contact I worked with at Amp Agency was lovely from start to finish, and I would bet some of those kids who helped paint went home and asked for Maruchan for dinner ;).
