Minor League Ball RULES! Free-standing Mural

Swing Batter Batter Swing!

Client: Minor League Baseball
Location: San Diego, CA → St. Petersburg, FL
December 2019

What do “The Sea Unicorns,” “Mighty Mussels,” and “The Paddle Heads” all have in common? They’re Minor League Baseball teams! We had so much fun designing a mural for this league and painting it live at their December conference, Baseball Winter Meeting, in our hometown of San Diego, CA.

We donned our coveralls and MLB caps, grabbed our business cards, and painted this bad boy over a two day time span at the Baseball Winter Meeting at the San Diego Convention Center. Not only did we make a lot of friends, but we hosted a talk about how to use social media most effectively to grow your business.

This was a fun project as we got to try out a bunch of different custom fonts for this collage wall, utilizing both script and sans serif styles. The colors were inspired by the MiLB color palette you can see all over their branding, and we loved how they seemed to pop right off the wall. One of our favorite elements of this mural? The POPCORN! It was a blast to add all the food elements to this piece because, c’mon, who doesn’t love a good ballpark snack?!

This mural is another great example of the magic that can be created on free-standing structures. We had this two-piece wall built locally out of lightweight yet sturdy wood, then added support with strong feet and locking wheels. We love this style for murals because it can be rolled around and moved from location to location for large events like this one. Though it was created in San Diego, after the conference it was shipped to its new home in sunny Florida, in the MLB offices!

Did you meet us at Baseball Winter Meeting or did you take a pic with this mural at the MiLB office? We’d love to see it!
