Tilly’s Store Opening Mural

Tillys is fun for us to work with. They are an American lifestyle brand that sells men and women’s shoes and apparel inspired by the active and social California lifestyle. We are California girls at heart, so we obviously connected to their brand! We were so excited when Tilly’s asked us to partner with them for a second time - this time for the opening of their new store at the Natick Shopping Mall in Massachusetts. 

In June 2019, we flew out to Boston to bring some California vibes to the East Coast. This trip had a quick turn around, so we got off the plane, grabbed a cab, and set off to buy paints and supplies immediately. Little did we know, we’d be faced with more obstacles in the next couple of hours than just a tight deadline. 

Since the mural- a geometric, colorful wall with “Be You” painted across the front- was being painted in a busy mall, we had planned to start painting after the building closed for the night. We set up our supplies and got to work… until the mall lights shut off. Even though we were told that our project had been given the green light and the project would be accommodated, we ended up having to use a spotlight just to see the wall! Not only that, but we had no access to a ladder - which we definitely needed. Needless to say, we were ready for a lobster roll and a large glass of wine by the time we were finished. 

Even though it wasn’t the smoothest process, we ended up loving how Tilly's mural for their “Be You” campaign turned out! A few weeks after the mural was completed, we flew back to Massachusetts and spent opening day in the new Tilly’s store, creating custom hats and tote bags for all of the store’s visitors. Everyone who came to the store that day got to leave with something special that they’ll remember for a long time! Are you a Tilly’s fan?
