Going Virtual! Live Events During the Pandemic

Like many businesses, a major part of our business had been impacted by Covid...live events and workshops. This has forced us to figure out how to become more virtual with our services. In the early days of the pandemic, we did talks with many college design classes to give them tips and tricks for making money through freelance...even through a pandemic. We love talking to new designers and helping them understand their value when it comes to freelance. Something we feel was seriously lacking in our graphic design educations.

As did most of the business world, we got really comfortable with these Zoom events. So we wondered how we could take it to the next level. We’ve been teaching lettering workshop all around the country for the last 4 years. We love teaching people how to develop their own style through drawing letters. It’s so much fun. We wondered if we could recreate that experience for our students in a virtual setting. 

We got approached by a law firm looking for a unique virtual activity for their employees...the perfect opportunity to see if virtual lettering workshops would have the same impact! They thought it sounded like a great idea! 

We shipped lettering workbooks and supplies to 25 lawyers with little to no artistic experience and crossed our fingers that USPS would come through. Luckily everyone got their packages without a hitch and were so excited to receive some extra goodies from us (like stickers, sketchbook, and a hand lettered name tag for each student). The workshop went flawlessly and everyone had a great time. 

The next day we launched our first virtual workshop open to anyone in the world...and over the next couple weeks it sold out at 100 attendees. We even had someone sign up from Vienna, Austria and someone from Saudi Arabia! A global workshop!
