Moveable Murals for the Modern Business
It’s 2024 and this year we are all about making smart business moves and savvy investments in order to take our brands to the next level. It’s no secret that I think one of the best things a business can do to increase their exposure is install a custom mural. But what about those businesses that don’t have a brick-and-mortar, or are traveling from trade show to trade show? A moveable mural might be just what the biz God ordered.
All the Value, a Portion of the Cost
When I am talking to businesses about installing a mural for them, the most common reason people don’t move forward (at least right away) is due to financial reasons. They want to wait until they have more money in their budget, which is understandable! An easy way to get around this is by commissioning a moveable mural (or, by making one yourself- more on that later). These smaller canvases are a perfect way to get eyes on your brand and add some flair to any space your business goes - be it a trade show, a pop-up event, or a rented space. And if you do have a brick-and-mortar shop but are thinking you might relocate down the line, this type of investment is not bound to a specific location or spot. No need to cover up the mural you spent thoughtful time and money on! It’s a one time cost that moves with you, and works for you.
Infuse any space with your brand’s unique energy
A great thing about a moveable mural is that wherever you set it up, the space will be instantly transformed to feel more curated, intentional, and * vibey. * An in-person experience is shaped by the feelings someone has when they are within a space, and let’s be honest - most places we visit on the day to day are more or less… visually mundane. You’ve spent good money, time, and mental energy into creating your brand’s unique energy, and we want to make sure that’s being translated wherever you go!
A great example of this is the 10k race that Lululemon hired me to paint a moveable mural for. I love running a good race, but it’s the thought of the after party that gets me to actually sign up. The brightly colored, geometric #Sweatlife mural that Lululemon had me install in the post race area set the tone for a fun, high energy morning FULL of sweaty selfies and photo ops. The best part is that Lululemon was then able to reuse the mural for any race they held in San Diego afterwards, and even put in their storefront later to add to the shop’s aesthetic.
Just because these murals are moveable though, doesn’t mean they have to constantly be on the move. I love a moveable mural as a way to spruce up a commercial space’s interior in a way that doesn’t put your security deposit at risk. Hang up your large-format custom art or lean it against your shop’s wall and watch your space come to life! When your business starts to do so well that you have to upgrade your square footage, just pack up your murals, patch up the walls, and be on your way (with your full security check in hand ;)).
I’ve painted multiple freestanding murals for companies that can’t paint right on their walls , and love how quickly and easily these canvases updated the spaces’ whole look.
Live Painting! draw a crowd at your next trade show or event
As a muralist, I personally love to paint these mobile pieces of art because if a business wants to, they can turn the painting process into a live painting event! Talk about dinner, AND a show. Basically, a company will hire me to create a custom mural for them, and I will prep and paint only 50-75% before the event. Then I will live paint and and finish the mural right there on-site, in front of guests.. This is an amazing way to get customers to stop by your booth at a trade show event, for example.
Take it from me - passersbys love to talk to an artist mid-project. A live painting event is a way for your business to interact with potential customers, get some social media action through posts and hashtags, and stand out from a sea of random booths and people as a destination.
A few years ago I did a fun event with M Health Fairview, where I painted two large murals on site- and printed copies of the design to hand with crayons for kids to color along. It was such a great way for the community to interact with the brand, and people loved watching the murals come to life!
There are so many others ways to make moveable murals and live painting a true community event. If something like this could work for your business, shoot me an email or slide into my DMs! I love these projects and getting to talk to all of you throughout the process. :)
